VRX Competition 2027
The Virtual RobotX (VRX) Competition challenges teams to develop and test autonomous maritime systems in a simulated environment. Teams integrate surface, aerial, and underwater vehicles to complete missions that build skills in autonomy, systems integration, and multi-domain operations.
Because VRX is simulation-based, teams can participate without the cost and infrastructure required to build and operate physical vehicles, creating an accessible pathway to develop and demonstrate advanced autonomy capabilities.
New for 2027: RoboNation is partnering with Honu Robotics to update the VRX simulation environment to reflect the multi-domain capabilities introduced in the 2026 Maritime RobotX Challenge. Teams will work across surface, aerial, and underwater domains as part of the 2027 competition.
